GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM
- Mapping My Journey

About Me:

Hi Guys,

I have taken a novice step forward by creating webpages dedicated to understanding and learning more about Geospatial technologies. This exercise, to say the least, is an important step for me personally to get under the skin of this niche technology and in the process, learn from you and the contributions made. I have conciously tried to amalgamate technology & marketing sciences into the pages. 'Learning', as my firm belief goes, is an on-going never-ending process; ultimately leading to 'enlightenment at the end of the tunnel of knowledge'.

Currently in India, after an exciting academic and corporate sojourn in the United States, to first-hand experience ground-zero changes that are touted of India's global development roadmap and phenomenal growth projections. Born & bred in Mumbai [Bombay], with Bangalore and Chicago as my 2nd and 3rd homes respectively; I find coporate life in India a bitter-sweet experience. Working in the niche Geospatial sphere for the past 4 and half years has been quite an exciting tumultous journey thru the everchanging intensities of mapping technologies.

My responsibilities demand handling of all international business development/mktg activities at the present work station in life, overseeing aspects of service offerings to the EU and Middle Eastern markets. I come to the GIS arena with business strategy formulation & marketing background core, armed with a Bachelors & Masters Degrees from the United States. In totality, carry 22 years of international corporate exposure & experience, primarily focussed on client servicing and cross functional job profiles.

"All work and no play, makes Ameet a dull boy" :-)

So, I keep myself busy with travel, reading, the NET, social/business networking and offcourse my Family, in my not so spacious spare time......Balancing life as it stands now, @ 43, is truly a challenge like I have never faced before!! Yet, I take 1 day at a time, savoring every moment spent......thanking the Higher Powers for the opportunity given!

Though I come from an IT mainstream work profile, working in a new area like GIS has allowed me to expand my horizons to new limits and have at times, tested my resolve to be in this niche technology area. I do see Geospatial technology being a part and parcel of all aspects of day-2-day life as India gears up for the challenge.

I hope that I will do justice to the matter posted on this website & welcome any suggesstions and assistance in making these pages a pleasurable read and informative in the true sense of the word!

Cheers,

Ameet H.Mondkar
